Green Moss Slide was created in 2013 using my daughter’s playground slide as both an easel and part of the painting process. I laid the canvas directly onto the slide, working with house paint and acrylic before introducing water from a garden hose. Gravity pulled the diluted pigment down the angled surface, allowing the paint to run, pool, bleed, and leave behind unexpected marks.
The result sits somewhere between intention and accident. Dense greens rise and dissolve across the canvas while black gestures, small drawn details, and traces of softer color emerge from the washes. There’s something almost geological about it—moss, rain, eroded architecture, or a landscape slowly being reclaimed.
What began as a simple experiment in the backyard became a record of movement: paint, water, gravity, and play all determining the final image.
